In 1994, Peter de Deugd registered PD Woodcraft which operated initially as a part time business, supplying one-off commissioned furniture and machined components for furniture manufacturers.
In 1999, Peter was awarded the FIAAis Cabinet Makers Association Award and the Australian Industries Group Award Cabinetmaking, and in 2000 commenced full time cabinetmaking.
The business focus is on high quality timber furniture, predominantly specializing in French Provincial and English Chippendale styles. Unique items and services available to the company’s clientele have their roots in machining innovation and flexibility.
Peter’s additional training in mechanical engineering facilitates the development or restoration of specialised machinery for these tasks. Less unusual services include timber milling, drying, dressing and low-cost moulding, in addition to high precision, high volume repetitive carving.
PD Woodcraft is committed to strengthening not only it’s own business, but also other Australian furnishing businesses by the supply of fine furniture and quality components to the Australian marketplace and abroad.
Peter married Genevieve in 2008 and together they run PD Woodcraft.
